Character Race Change Service Overview
The Character Race Change Service allows you to change your player character's race (Hume/Elvaan/Tarutaru/Mithra/Galka) as well as their appearance.
This is the perfect way to switch things up and go on exciting new adventures throughout Vana'diel!
Preparation
In order to edit your character's race, gender, and/or appearance, you will need to purchase the ability to use the Character Race Change Service for that character.
Service Fee
Each use of the Character Race Change Service costs $11.00 / €11.00 / £9.20.
Using the Service
You must purchase the service for each character you wish to change. Once purchased, a ★ icon will be displayed next to the name of the applicable player character on the character selection screen.
* The star mark will remain for 14 days after purchase regardless of whether or not the race change has been completed. It will disappear once the 14 days have elapsed.
* The star mark is proof that the service has been purchased and also indicate the period for which the service cannot be purchased again.
Validity Period
The Character Race Change Service is valid for 14 days (336 hours) from the date of purchase.
- Please make sure to confirm your character's new appearance within the validity period.
- The validity period includes times when you are unable to log in to the game, such as during maintenance periods.
Purchase Restrictions
After purchasing the right to use the Character Race Change Service, you are unable to purchase the service again for the same player character for a period of 14 days (336 hours).
This restriction applies even if you have confirmed your character changes before the 14-day validity period has expired.

How to Purchase
1. Please log in to the Square Enix Account Management System.
* Please note that if you have a security token or a software token attached to your account you will also have to input your one-time password.
2. After logging in, click on 'PlayOnline / FINAL FANTASY XI Service Accounts' to review your account options.
3. Select 'Options List' under 'Active Service Accounts'.
4. Select 'Race Change'.
5. Review the service guidelines and then proceed to the character selection screen.
6. Select the character you wish to purchase a race change for.
7. Confirm your payment information and then proceed to the payment confirmation screen.
8. Select a payment method.
* Payments can be made using Square Enix Crysta, credit card, or Amazon Pay.
9. After confirming your payment method, select Purchase at the bottom of the page to continue.
This completes your purchase of the Character Race Change Service. After logging out from the Square Enix Account Management System, log in to FINAL FANTASY XI and check whether there is a ★ icon displayed next to the appropriate character on the character selection screen.
How to Change Your Character's Appearance
1. After purchasing the Character Race Change Service, launch FINAL FANTASY XI and log in to the game with the applicable character.
2. Speak to the NPC Ancestry Moogle and change your character's appearance as desired.

3. You can change your character's race, gender, face type, hair color, and size. If you have yet to confirm the changes to your appearance, you can speak to the Ancestry Moogle to see a preview of your character as many times as you like.

Notes
Using the Character Race Change Service
You are unable to use the Character Race Change Service if any of the following apply:
- - Less than three days have elapsed since the date of the first subscription contract for your FINAL FANTASY XI automatic continuous option (character).
- - You do not have any characters who are able to utilize the Character Race Change Service.
- - FINAL FANTASY XI is undergoing maintenance.
- - Have not transferred from PlayOnline ID to Square Enix Account. (Click here for transfer procedure)
- Please note that once you confirm the changes to your character's appearance then no further changes can be made, even if you confirmed the changes accidentally.
Notes Regarding the Character Race Change Service
- - You can purchase a Race Change for each of your playable characters.
- - The ability to use a pending race change cannot be transferred between characters.
- - Once the Race Change has been purchased, you cannot cancel your purchase or receive a refund. Please keep this in mind when making your purchase.
- - While the race change validity period is active, you will be unable to purchase or assign another race change for the same character.
- - If the validity period of your Race Change expires while you are still making changes to your character, your changes will be lost even if you try to confirm them.
- - If you delete the character within 14 days (336 hours) of purchasing the service, the ability to use the service can be transferred to a newly created player character in the same slot until the service’s validity period expires.
Character Stats
- If you change your character's race, their stats (HP, MP, STR, DEX, VIT, AGI, INT, MND, and CHR) and usable items (raw meat/raw fish) will also change in addition to their outward appearance.
Item Info
- - Please note that some equipment can no longer be worn after changing your character's race or gender. If you change to a race or gender that does not fulfill the equipment requirements, the equipment will be automatically unequipped once you finalize your character's appearance.
- - Except in certain cases, any equipment that can no longer be equipped due to changing your character's race or gender (such as equipment that is only available for a specific race or gender) cannot be exchanged for other items.
- Exceptions
- You can trade the items listed below to the Ancestry Moogle in order to receive an item that meets your new requirements
