In Closing

For the 9th Vana’diel census, on top of the familiar information, we’ve added a whole new angle with a survey that has allowed us to directly ask you, the player, for the answers. So, what did you think?

FINAL FANTASY XI has celebrated seven illustrious years of service since its launch in Japan, and as of June this year, boasted a population of over 2.35 million characters. After numerous expansion packs and add-on scenarios, Vana’diel is packed with variety and depth. The player community continues to grow and shows no signs of stopping. Players have gathered across multiple platforms, from regions all around the world, and made FINAL FANTASY XI their home. We feel honored to have brought this year’s census to all of you out there.

With this year’s census results, I could really hear the voice of the community. With each passing year, the community changes a little more, and the most far-reaching content added to the game has originated from the voice of the community. The Level Sync system and Fields of Valor are just two examples from the past year. These were both created by the development and operation teams, inspired by ideas and suggestions from the community. One could say that it is actually the community that created this content.

Whether a post on an internet forum, a suggestion in an e-mail, a comment in a GM call, or communication with the dev team through an event, player voices are wide-reaching in their influence and have shaped Vana’diel into the world it is today. Be sure your voice is heard! We are serious in our dedication to the world of FINAL FANTASY XI.

Vana’diel continues to grow through version updates and add-on scenarios. Together, we can make that world even greater!

I look forward to seeing all of you in Vana’diel.
