We have recently confirmed that it is possible to make characters in FINAL FANTASY XI move faster than intended by using certain other software applications.
Whether intentional or not, it is a violation of the PlayOnline User Agreements and Policies to use any program other than those offered or approved by Square-Enix USA, Inc. or to exit and misuse the game system from the outside. Such violations are punishable by account cancellation, and we ask that all users refrain from this kind of behavior. Also in accordance with our policies, users whose accounts are cancelled in this manner are prohibited from any and all subsequent use of the PlayOnline service.
Currently, a solution designed to stop such behavior at its source is under development. However, we are still conducting investigations into unusual gameplay behavior, and anyone caught using any illegal third-party application will be subject to punishment, even if they are unaware such applications are running or are not allowed.
If you believe your character is moving at unusually accelerated speeds, please stop all related applications or devices that may be affecting gameplay. If the situation does not change, please petition a GM.
If you should spot another player moving in a strange fashion, unless that player's actions are directly impeding your use of FINAL FANTASY XI, it is not necessary to petition a GM about the situation.
