Valentione Wishes & Bubble Chocolate Dreams (01/26/2007)

Valentione's Day

A long time ago, in a kingdom not so far away (actually, it was San d'Oria), a peasant squire named Valentione defied centuries of feudal law by sending a special gift to a young noble. This ultimate expression of love over tradition is said to be the origin of the festival we celebrate today.

Ah, love is in the air, and the Mog House Management Union (MHMU) wants to help all those stray hearts find their better halves, kupo! Valentione's Day is a chance for young lovers to express their true feelings by giving that "special someone" a chunk of chocolate sweeter than the words "I love you." We've planned a bittersweet event to bring lonely Vana'dielian couples together, but it looks like most of the adventurers that signed up aren't as comfortable talking with those of the opposite sex once they've put away their halberds and hauberks. That's why we need your help to be Cupid! Don't worry--we'll have something tasty ready for all those who help us out, kupo!

When!?

The Valentione excitement begins at 16:00 (PST) on Thursday, February 1 and continues until 0:00 (PST) on Thursday, February 15 (Earth time).

Where!?

Valentione moogles will be dancing and prancing in locations all across Vana'diel. Find one and listen closely to what he has to say. Your furry friends hold the keys to Valentione's Day festivities, and you wouldn't want to miss out on all the fun and games, would you!? Here's a list of where they'll be twirling:
- Southern San d'Oria (J-9)
- Northern San d'Oria (D-8)
- Bastok Mines (I-9)
- Bastok Markets (G-8)
- Windurst Waters (F-5)
- Windurst Woods (K-10)

Valentione Memories

Are you still pondering over how you should spend your Valentione's Day? What should you prepare? Where should you go? Should you pop the big question? If you just can't decide, then why not take a lesson from these free-spirited adventurers and their journeys down the highway of love?

My boyfriend and I were closer than leeches on a goobue's ankle after a wade through the Caedarva Mire...until we had that spat over whose Brenner was more flammen. After that we didn't speak for moons, and I was certain the end was upon us. But when I opened my delivery box on Valentione's Day and saw a Castor's Ring with my darling's name carved on the inside, I knew it wouldn't be long before he was back in my arms. I still wear that ring whenever we go on Assault missions. Its +10 love is better than any increase in intelligence or mind.

All cooks love Valentione's! Except for me, of course. I try and I try to make heart chocolates for all my friends and flames, but every year I end up with a Mog House bursting with molding bubble chocolate. But on the upside, there's always some cheap chump out there weary to part with the extra gil to unlock his sweetie's heart, and so those bloody bubbles usually help me break even.

I fell hard for this one fine lass after spending a great deal of time with her on various adventures. My plan was to tell her how I felt last Valentione's Day. However, when that fateful event rolled around, I couldn't muster up the courage to reveal the feelings pent up in my heart. After that, we slowly lost contact with each other until our friendship had faded into the mists of eternity. If I had only taken that extra step, I wouldn't be a lone traveler on a road to nowhere...

One day on our way back from clobbering colibris in Wajoam, another Mithra in my party started handing out different colored flowers to everyone. When we asked her why, she cheerfully replied, "It's Valentione's Day, sillies! You didn't forget, did you?"

Well, actually, we all had forgotten, but we appreciated the gesture... Well, almost all of us. Supposedly the color of each flower had some sort of meaning--yellow for friendship, red for love, etc. But just what was she trying to say when she handed me that dried marjoram?
