Announcing the Shield Design Contest 2020! (07/28/2020)

Calling adventurers and artists alike! We're pleased to announce the return of the popular Shield Design Contest returning to Vana'diel once more! Furthermore, the winning shield entry will be implemented into the game! So fetch your Stationery Sets and pick up your quills to draft a shield so ornate and elegant that it captures the eyes of all!

Entry Requirement

Entrant must possess an active FINAL FANTASY XI service account at the time of submission and agree to the criteria written below. By submitting an entry, you confirm that you have read and agree to the terms and conditions below, and that you are eligible to participate.

Entry Period

Tuesday, July 28 2020 at 1:01 a.m. to Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 7:59 a.m. (PDT)

Shield Design Template



How to Enter

Step One
1.Download the design template file.

2.Using the template with any image editing software, design your own shield with the design being related to FINAL FANTASY XI.

3.Image file requirement:
•Image Resolution: 98 pixels x 128 pixels (Same size as the design template)
•Image File Type: Must be saved as either BMP, JPEG, or PNG format.
•File Size: Must be 750 KB or below.

Step Two
1.Submit the Shield Design via the submission form, including the following necessary information on the form:
•World Name
•Character Name
•Nickname (max. 40 characters)
•Entry Title (max. 50 characters)
•Personal Comment or caption for your entry (max. 100 characters)
•Prize you wish to receive if selected as a runner-up. Selection from one of the following in-game items:
•Moogle Rod
•Town Moogle Shield
•Nomad Cap

2.Attach the Shield Design created in step one.

3.Submit your Entry.

* Photographs and hand-drawn designs will not be accepted.
* One (1) Entry per person. If multiple Entries submitted by the same entrant are posted, only the last Entry submitted will be considered.
* Should your Entry be chosen, the above nickname (meaning whatever name you provided), entry title, and personal comment will appear along with your artwork.
* As part of your personal comment or caption you may suggest a name and stats for the item; however, they are subject to adjustments by the development team and may not be reflected in-game.

Twenty (20) Runner-up winners shall each receive one (1) of the following prizes of their choosing:

How to Use the Entry Submission Form

Step 1: Log into the form
Visit the Entry Submission Form and log in with your Square Enix Account.


Step 2: Enter the required information
After you have logged in, the entry submission form will be displayed. Fill out all the required information.


Step 3: Upload your images.
Submit your images via the image upload feature.


Once you've filled out the required information and finished uploading your images, select "Proceed to Confirmation" to proceed.

Step 4: Confirm the details of your submission.
On this screen, you can confirm the information you've entered. Make sure there are no errors in the submitted information and select Submit Entry to proceed if there are no errors. If you would like to edit your submitted information, select Edit Entry.

Once you finish submitting your entry, the following screen will be displayed.


You can log back in to see if your entry has been submitted. If you would like to submit additional entries, proceed to the entry submission form again.

Shield Design Contest 2020 (the "Promotion") Official Rules

Key Rules

A.Official Rules: The Official Rules for this Promotion consist of both (i) these key rules summarizing the important rules for participating in the Promotion (the "Key Rules") and (ii) the Additional Promotion Official Rules ("Additional Rules") applicable to your place of legal residence. Please review the Additional Rules at the following URL:

B.Territories: This Promotion is open only to individuals who are legal residents and physically and permanently located in one of the following countries/territories at the date and time of entry (the "Promotion Jurisdiction"):
•The fifty (50) states of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
•Canada (excluding Quebec).
•The United Kingdom (excluding the British Overseas Territories).

C.Age Limit: This Promotion is open only to individuals 18 years of age or older at the date and time of entry.

D.Entry Period: You may enter the Promotion only between 28 July 2020 at 1:01 a.m. PDT / 8:01 a.m. GMT and 18 August 2020 at 7:59 a.m. PDT / 2:59 p.m. GMT (the "Entry Period").

E.Entry Procedure and Limitations: In order to enter the Promotion, you must complete the following steps during the Entry Period:

F.Winner Selection: The Sponsor (listed below), or Sponsor's designee, shall select one (1) grand prize winner and twenty (20) runners-up winners from among all entries using the following methodology:

The Sponsor or Sponsor's designee will judge the Entries based on a) creativity of entrant's Shield Design and overall Entry, b) originality of entrant's Shield Design and overall Entry.

G.Prize(s): Each winner shall receive each of the following prize(s):
•Grand Prize Winner (1)
•The shield you designed (design will be implemented as an in-game FINAL FANTASY XI item with no monetary value)
•Moogle Rod (an in-game FINAL FANTASY XI item with no monetary value)
•Town Moogle Shield (an in-game FINAL FANTASY XI item with no monetary value)
•Nomad Cap (an in-game FINAL FANTASY XI item with no monetary value)

In order to receive the grand prize, the grand prize winner may be required to execute additional assignments or other documents as Sponsor may reasonably require (as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion) in order to effectuate the purposes and intents of these Key Rules and the Additional Rules. Grand prize is estimated to be delivered by or about 28 February 2021.

•Twenty (20) Runner-up winners shall each receive one (1) of the following prizes of their choosing:
•One (1) Moogle Rod (an in-game FINAL FANTASY XI item with no monetary value)
•One (1) Town Moogle Shield (an in-game FINAL FANTASY XI item with no monetary value)
•One (1) Nomad Cap (an in-game FINAL FANTASY XI item with no monetary value)

•In addition, each entrant shall receive the following participation prize
•One (1) Byakko Masque (an in-game FINAL FANTASY XI item with no monetary value)

H.Winner Notification: Sponsor, or Sponsor's designee, will notify winner(s) by or about 30 November 2020 via an announcement on the "Topics" page on the official website.

I.Sponsor: The sponsor of this Promotion is Square Enix, Inc.

By entering the Promotion, you agree to be bound and abide by these Key Rules and the Additional Rules applicable to your place of legal residence, and you represent that you satisfy all eligibility requirements to enter the Promotion.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS PROMOTION. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. YOU MUST HAVE LEGALLY ACQUIRED ACCESS TO FINAL FANTASY XI PRIOR TO THE LAUNCH OF THE PROMOTION.
