FINAL FANTASY XI Producer & Director Yoji Fujito has prepared a message regarding measures to address congestion on the Bahamut World.
=====
Greetings, everyone. This is Yoji Fujito, Producer and Director for FINAL FANTASY XI. Thank you all for your continued support of FFXI!
Today, I would like to inform you of the congestion situation on the Bahamut World and how it will be addressed.
On Tuesday, July 29, we suspended new character creation and incoming character transfers for the Asura World. Since then, congestion levels on Bahamut have also risen to a point that requires similar measures.
Bahamut has consistently had the second most concurrent users out of all Worlds and has been close behind Asura in terms of total character population, leading many new adventurers to begin their journeys there. While we are pleased to see these Worlds bustling with activity, having too many concurrent users can overwhelm server processes on that World, which affects server responsiveness and increases the likelihood of other related issues.
Therefore, similar to our measures for Asura, we are planning the following measures on Bahamut starting Thursday, October 9 (JST) in order to maintain gameplay stability moving forward. We would appreciate your cooperation and understanding regarding this matter.
====
? Steps to be taken
- The Character World Transfer Service option for transferring characters to the Bahamut World will be suspended.
- The option to create new characters on the Bahamut World will be suspended. (*1)
- The Vana'diel Adventurer Recruitment Program will be suspended for the Bahamut World server.
* 1: This excludes accounts with existing characters on the Bahamut World.
* Since there is a possibility that similar issues may arise on other overcrowded Worlds, we are also considering other potential measures to balance populations across Worlds.
====
We will continue monitoring login numbers and other factors as we consider the resumption of the services and features listed above.
As for the Asura World, although its overall player population has slightly decreased, the server load remains relatively unchanged, and will remain closed to new adventurers for now.
In addition to developing and adjusting in-game content, we will also keep up our efforts to maintain an enjoyable in-game environment for our adventurers around the globe, and would appreciate your continued support of FINAL FANTASY XI!
