Greetings, everyone. I'm Yoji Fujito, the producer and director for FINAL FANTASY XI. As always, I would like to thank all of you for playing FFXI!
Once again, we are seeing periods of congestion on the game's servers, this time with the Phoenix World, so I'd like to explain what measures we will be taking to help address the issue.
We previously suspended the creation of new characters and character transfers for the Asura, Bahamut, and Odin World servers, and have noticed that similar overcrowding is now occurring on the Phoenix World server, meaning that we will need to take similar measures for it as well.
In terms of player activity, the Phoenix server comes in just behind the three Worlds previously mentioned, with many new adventurers choosing it from late April to start their journey. Like what happened with the Asura, Bahamut, and Odin Worlds, too many concurrent users can overwhelm the servers, leading to slowdown in the game and the potential for other related issues.
Therefore, we are once again planning to implement the following measures on the Phoenix World server from Wednesday, 10 June, 2026 (JST) in order to help maintain the game's stability going forward. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding regarding this matter.
====
■ Steps to be taken
- The option to use the Character World Transfer Service to transfer characters to the Phoenix World server will be suspended.
- The option to create new characters on the Phoenix World server will be suspended. (*1)
- The Vana'diel Adventurer Recruitment Program will be suspended for the Phoenix World server.
*1: This excludes characters that already exist on the Phoenix World server.
Note: Since there is a possibility that similar issues may arise on other overly crowded Worlds as well, we are also considering other potential measures that will help equalize the populations across Worlds.
====
We plan to continue monitoring the number of logged-in users as well as various other factors and will seek to resume the above-mentioned services and functionality when appropriate.
Although there has been a slight decrease in the overall player population on the three servers that are currently being restricted, the server load remains relatively unchanged overall, so we are continuing to close off those Worlds to new adventurers at this time.
In addition to developing and making revisions to the in-game content, we are also working hard to maintain an environment where players around the world can properly enjoy the game, so we appreciate your continued support of FINAL FANTASY XI!
